Carol and her family have a deep rooted background in the Cycladic area. Her parents – German and Greek – had sailed all over the Aegean sea in the ’80s. Carol wanted to do the same route that she had sailed with her parents but this time onboard OLAKALA. We followed the B route for its wildness and its flexibility with different weather conditions. Carol is a great photographer and to catch the right shoot was important for her. She was shooting hundreds of photos during long dingy rides by the coast or on picturesque walks on ancient foot paths and awesome volcanic scenery. We spent a couple of days swimming in the old hot springs in the South of Nisiros and also treating the skin in mineral hot springs which discharges its water into the sea on the North East of Ikaria island. Sadly the wind changed direction and we only had the time to feel and look ten years younger! We spent the rest of the days free diving, fishing and sunbathing on the islands of Small Cyclades and at nights we anchored in nearby small coves on the southern coast of Naxos island. On this long route the boat proved its practicability and comfortability with its unique laid back facilities. Carol so enjoyed this off the tourist route holiday, she loved the freshly prepared vegan meals that she has already booked another holiday for next year aboard OLAKALA but this time later in the season – November when the sun light is softer and better for photo shoots.
